YouTube Plagiarism

To all the authors on HSN:
Lately, I’ve noticed that some of my stories posted here have been harvested and used elsewhere for profit. What is happening? The party in question is plagiarizing the scripts from my stories and employing an AI bot to narrate them on YouTube. As this is a ‘for profit’ venture to be sure, I saw fit to have the offending videos removed, siting copyright violations. I don’t have much issue with seeing my stories reposted on other sites as I know that most, if not all, are free sites and no one really benefits other than the reader. These videos are blatant intellectual theft, with no credit given to the author, so I had no problem hitting them with the copyright strikes. I’m not the only one from HSN whose stories I’ve seen on these channels, so I recommend you check them out, if you’re concerned. The channels in question are: Forced Headshave Haircut Stories and Barbershop Women.
I know that we put a great deal of effort into writing our stories, so to have someone else profit nefariously from our hard craft is a bit insulting. I welcome any comments on this subject.

Sorry to hear this is happening Claire. How easy was it to get the videos removed?

To be honest, it was very easy. All I needed to do was provide a link to the story in question on this site. I presume the auditors at Youtube were astute enough to realize that the narration was word for word with what was written in my work. The fact that the posting date on all of the work predated the videos by at least two years, probably made their decision a simple one. All in all, Six stories were plagiarized and all six were removed immediately. I’m not sure whether a copyright strike was issued, but to be fair, someone else making money from my efforts just rubbed me the wrong way. It’s one thing to see my stories on other free web sites, but YouTube is a money making enterprise for the creators and that’s not okay. If they’re not creative enough to write their own material, then they shouldn’t be posting. I doubt this individual will be harvesting from here any time soon, if ever.

And ever since they use AI generated stories that are awful. Mind you, I do like the narrated versions of the stories. Don’t think there’s much money in it, it’s still theft though. They should have at least acknowledge original authors and where they find the story.
