Trending Author?

So, there I was posting another story on the site when I suddenly notice that there is a *Trending Author next to my pen name. Can somebody please explain what this is, and how it is awarded. Personally, I am never looking for accolades concerning my writing, other than comments from my readers and whether or not they enjoyed my stories. I do know that since the *Trending Author showed up, unannounced, I have stopped receiving comments from my readers. I’m not sure if I’m on board with this denotation, or not. Love to hear your feedback.

I believe it is a combination of the number of stories you’ve posted, the views they get, and the number of likes. It’s a way to differentiate authors who consistently provide quality content (as shown by the volume of likes) from some authors who had been flooding the site with incredibly short, low effort posts.
