A lot of people have been in touch with me regarding the stability of the site over the past couple of weeks.
Looking at the logs there’s no specific reason other than the amount of traffic hitting the server. As the site has become more popular it’s been necessary to improve the web server and it just seems like we’re at the point where we need another upgrade. We’re receiving around 70,000 unique visitors each month with around 700,000 page views.
Over the past few days I’ve put some measures and upgrades in place to improve the site stability and we’ll see how it goes, things seem to be settling down a little.
Ultimately a server upgrade will be the best bet but that will cost money. The donation system had around 10 people donate earlier in the year, all of which I appreciate but is nowhere near enough to cover a decent upgrade so I’ll maybe ask users to think of further fund raising ideas.
